Diwali Weekend Getaway

October 28, 2008 at 9:32 pm (吉隆坡 Kuala Lumpur) (, , , , , )

Went to KL for a spa retreat over the long Diwali weekend.

Daily routine? Eat, spa, and sleep.

I always loves the feeling of going to airport and take a flight to somewhere for a holiday. Who doesn’t, right?

On board of a JAL’s flight.

Dawn on first morning.

Twin towers.

Deepavali’s Kolam

金莲記 Kam Lin Kee, the infamous Hokkien noodles (fried noodles in dark soy sauce) stall in Chee Cheong Kar aka Petaling Street / Chinatown.

There is Yuan Yang coffee (coffee mix w tea).
There is also a version in noodles: 鸳鸯面 Yuan Yang Noodle.
Perhaps this is uniquely Malaysian.

Like Hokkien noodles, another dish I grow up with.

A trip to Chinatown will be incomplete if you did not have this Dried Longan and Lo Han Kuo drink sweetened with rock sugar drink from this very particular stall. Directly opposite 金莲記 Kam Lin Kee. Another stall which has been around for the longest time.

The place where I got pampered:

Treatments I had:
1. Deep sea salt scrub. Suppose to slim and rejuvenate.
2. Milk Body Mask + Milk Bath. Suppose to hydrate and whiten.
3. Herbal Compress Massage. Suppose to improve blood circulation and reduce muscle soreness.

After a consecutive three days of aromatherapy massages, aromatic mineral salt jacuzzi/bath, had it really done well for my skin?

Jalan Alor.

Initially, I thought it was spelling mistake. Dint know about the name change at all. Apparently, the locals were really unhappy with this change. As of last weekend, I think the authorities have decided to stick back to the original name.

When I come to Jalan Alor, I must have this dessert, 六味汤, from this particular mobile stall.  But it wasnt there anymore. Sigh.

This dessert not only helps to quench your thirst, it also have a good medicianial value.

Genevieve & Dora

October 22, 2008 at 12:21 pm (家 Home Sweet Home) (, )

My two nieces just love birthdays. Whoever’s birthday.

They love to sing the song. They love to blow the candles.

My elder niece just turns three.

We got the girls ready, and sat them at the table, with their party hats on. The minute when I brought out the cake, the minute when she saw the cake, her eyes sparkled with tremendous joy! An expression I have never seen before.

Priceless. 🙂
