What do you with blocks of 年糕 after Chinese New Year?
My mum will either steam it and eat it with fresh grated coconut.
Or simply, pan-fry it.
Sandwich a piece of 年糕 in between two slices of sweet potatoes.
You could use the regular, orange-flesh sweet tapioca or the Japanese yellow-flesh ones. Ive used the latter today.
The batter is pretty simple.
1 cup of Self-raising flour + 1 egg + a dash of salt and sugar.
Add water proportionally to the right consistency for coating.
This amount of batter would be enough to coat half a big 年糕.
